Who we are
VAS Autos Ltd ("we", "us", "our") is a used car dealer based in Milton Keynes. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use this website or get in touch with us, why we collect it, and what rights you have over it.
What we collect
We only collect what we need to help you buy a car or get in touch:
- Contact details you give us — name, email address, phone number
- The content of any enquiry or booking request you submit through our forms
- Which car (if any) you were enquiring about
- Basic technical information such as your browser type and approximate location, collected automatically by our hosting provider for security and performance purposes
We do not collect payment card details through this website.
How we use it
- To respond to your enquiry or confirm a booked appointment
- To contact you about a car you've expressed interest in
- To keep basic records of correspondence, as any business is required to
- Where relevant in future, to introduce you to a finance provider — only ever with your knowledge, and only if we offer finance introduction services at the time
Our legal basis for this processing is our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries from potential customers, and, where you submit a form, your consent to us contacting you back.
Who we share it with
We don't sell your information. We do use a small number of trusted third-party services to run this website and respond to you:
- Formspree — processes form submissions from our booking and contact pages and delivers them to us by email
- Google — powers the map embed on our contact page and our published customer reviews
- Warrantywise — where a car you buy includes warranty cover, your details may be shared with them to set that cover up
If we introduce finance in future, and you choose to apply, your details would also be shared with the relevant finance provider(s) to process that application — this section will be updated with full details before that happens.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry and booking records for as long as reasonably necessary to deal with your enquiry and for a reasonable period afterwards for our business records, typically no longer than 24 months unless we're required to keep it for longer (for example, warranty or sales records).
Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:
- Ask what personal data we hold about you
- Ask us to correct anything inaccurate
- Ask us to delete your data, where there's no legal reason for us to keep it
- Object to or restrict how we use your data
- Ask for a copy of your data in a portable format
To exercise any of these, just get in touch using the details below. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk if you're unhappy with how we've handled your data.
Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to keep your information secure, including using reputable third-party providers who are themselves required to meet data protection standards.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time, for example when we add new features such as finance applications. The "last updated" date at the top will always reflect the latest version.
